Individual Counselling
In counselling, I establish a collaborative therapy relationship with my clients. I walk alongside my clients as we together wrestle with the emotional difficulties and/or mental health issues that are
troubling them.
Therapy is provided with unconditional positive regard, where clients feel accepted and comfortable to share their most vulnerable thoughts and feelings. Individual clients’ set the tone for therapy, sometimes they have clear goals of what they want to achieve and sometimes their goals are unclear. As therapist, I use an integrated approach to ensure clients feel heard and seen, and that the interventions applied is what best suit the client’s needs and goals.
My approach includes looking at the past, present and future from a physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual perspective. The counselling process consists of three stages: exploration, intervention, and empowering. For counselling to be beneficial, it requires commitment from clients to several sessions. Clients often stop attending counselling when the issues and change required becomes too difficult. It is at these times when clients are encouraged to turn towards their therapist for guidance and
encouragement.
